Pneumatic Casters · Outdoor & Rough Terrain

Air-Filled Casters That Roll Over Gravel, Grass & Bad Ground

a hard wheel jams on gravel and jolts the load over every crack. an air-filled rubber tyre conforms to the surface, cushions the ride, and rolls over obstacles — in 6″, 8″, and 10″, rigid, swivel, and braked.

JRT pneumatic rubber-tyre caster

Take a loaded cart onto gravel, grass, or a cracked yard and a hard wheel does two things wrong: it digs in and jams against every stone and edge, and it punches each bump straight up into the load and the operator’s arms. a pneumatic, air-filled tyre does the opposite — it spreads its contact patch over the surface, deforms around obstacles to roll past them, and uses the air cushion to soak up the ride.

The tyre sits on a steel fork with ball bearings that keep starting and rolling effort down by about 15–20%, which matters when you are pushing a heavy cart across soft or broken ground. sizes run 6″, 8″, and 10″; the larger the tyre, the easier it clears obstacles and the more load it carries.

Builds cover the job: rigid (fixed) for straight-line stability on long outdoor runs, swivel for manoeuvring, and swivel with a total-lock brake to hold a parked cart on a slope. the range meets ANSI/ICWM and ISO 22883 requirements, and rated capacity is confirmed per model on your quote so it matches your cart.

Where they earn their keep

Outdoor ground

Gravel, grass & yards

Carts and equipment moved across gravel, grass, soil, and cracked or uneven yard surfaces.

Transitions

Docks & thresholds

Rolling over dock plates, kerbs, and door thresholds where a hard wheel would stall and jolt the load.

Towing

Trolleys & trailers

Hand trolleys, garden and site carts, and towed trailers that need a cushioned, low-effort ride outdoors.

One thing to plan for: a pneumatic tyre is air-filled, so it needs the right inflation pressure to perform. running it under-inflated wears the tyre faster and raises rolling effort — a quick pressure check in routine service keeps it rolling easily. where a sealed, no-maintenance option is preferred, a solid or PU heavy-duty caster is the alternative.

Mixed-load containerConsolidate pneumatic, heavy-duty, and other caster types into one container.
Per-model minimumHeld at distributor scale with no mass-OEM constraint, so you carry depth across sizes and builds.
Container loadingwe plan cartons per container to fill cube and weight efficiently; pneumatic tyres ship at set pressure.
Lead timeStandard models from stock; custom builds or sizes follow 24–48h drawing, typically about 14–21 days for bulk OEM.

Pneumatic & procurement FAQ

Why use a pneumatic caster instead of a solid wheel?
An air-filled tyre conforms to gravel, grass, and cracked or uneven ground, cushions the ride, and rolls over obstacles a hard wheel would jam against, so the cart moves with less effort and less jolting.
What sizes and builds are available?
Pneumatic tyres come in 6″, 8″, and 10″, in rigid (fixed), swivel, and swivel-with-total-lock-brake builds on steel forks.
What load do they carry?
Rated capacity depends on the tyre size and the build; we confirm the rating for each model on your quote so it matches your cart and load.
How does the total-lock brake work?
The total-lock brake holds both the wheel and the swivel at once, which keeps a parked cart from rolling or spinning on a slope or uneven ground.
Do pneumatic tyres need maintenance?
Yes. as an air-filled tyre, it should be kept inflated to the correct pressure; running it under-inflated wears the tyre and raises rolling effort. check pressure periodically in service.
Can you supply pneumatic casters under our brand in mixed-load orders?
Yes. we laser-etch or pad-print your logo or ship unbranded with neutral cartons, confirm custom builds on a 24–48h drawing, and consolidate into mixed-load containers at distributor scale.
